According to the Legend of Sir Guy in Thomas Percy's Reliques, the Earl of Warwick killed a dragon which had been terrorizing both man and beast.

It was usually invisible but Guy ordered it to appear and it did.

However every time Guy wounded the dragon it would put its tail down one of the three wells at Longwitton Hall and renew itself.

Eventually Sir Guy put himself between the dragon and the wells and pierced it through the heart killing it.
