From All About Dragons

Just below the famous White Horse which is carved in the turf of the chalk downs, is a small hill called Dragon Hill.

It is reputed to be the place that St George slew the dragon and it is also said that where the dragon's blood spilled no grass will grow.

Indeed, there is a bare patch of chalk on top of the mound to this day.

It is now considered by some that the Celtic White Horse is not in fact a horse but is actually a dragon.
